Abstract
“POR‐8” (Sandoz), a synthetic vasopressin, has been used In place of adrenaline as a vasoconstrictor in surgery. The effects of Intravenous Infusion of this drug on systemic blood pressure, femoral, aortic and coronary blood flows, rate of rise of left ventricular pressure (dp/dt) and heart rate were studied in anaesthetized dogs. “POR‐8” reduced femoral and aortic blood flow and increased blood pressure, but did not affect coronary blood flow or heart rate of atropinized animals.
