Abstract

The substantial and reliable increase in the incidence of depressive disorder during the transition to adolescence suggests the importance of understanding the developmental changes that might contribute to this vulnerability. In this final chapter, we attempt to integrate key findings so as to shed light on the etiology of depressive disorder. As well, we will discuss the future directions that have been highlighted in the chapters, in terms of conceptual development, research questions and methodologies, and intervention design.
