Total Cranial Vault Remodeling

Abstract

To correct severe deformities in infant craniosynostoses, a comprehensive alteration of the shape of the cranial vault may be indicated. Isolated sagittal synostosis is the most common single-suture synostosis with a variable phenotype ranging from a mild morphological change to a profound distortion of the entire cranial shape. Multiple techniques for the correction of moderate to severe scaphocephaly have been reported over the decades. Currently, two main approaches are under discussion.
