Music affords us many benefits, for our own and other’s mental health and wellbeing. In a cruel twist of fate, the act of performing music can be distressing enough such that it is endured with dread and fear, and in extreme cases, leads some to avoid performing altogether. As a community this denies us the opportunity to hear musicians from a broad spectrum – the most experienced, gifted and talented professional musicians, to the young learners in the precious formative years of their musical life. In this seminar Margaret will integrate a performance case study with clarinetist Paul Dean to discuss the eight common triggers to music performance anxiety, and discuss how we might be able to..
