Challenges in developing a truly national cultural policy: the latest iteration

In 2011 the Australian Labour Government released what they called a Cultural Policy Discussion Paper (2011). This research addresses some questions around this process of developing a new national cultural policy such as what is meant by a ‘cultural policy’, who is it meant for and what might be the outcomes of having such a policy? This discussion also occurs in the context of other related reviews presently occurring in the broader arts and cultural sector in Australia as well as international developments in the field.
