Abstract

The context of arts making has changed dramatically over the past 30 years with the use of new technologies, a changing environment and different approaches to both production and consumption. The way arts and cultural leadership is understood, interpreted and practised has also changed given the impact of the environmental changes. Understanding the broader environment for the arts is part of the leadership imperative given that this influences how arts practice occurs and how leadership is exercised.
