Deep brain stimulation wash-in and wash-out times for tremor and speech

Parkinson’s disease (PD) and Essential Tremor (ET) are progressive conditions with high world-wide prevalence. Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is an accepted therapy, yet the underlying therapeutic neurophysiological mechanisms are not well understood. We studied the wash in/out times of DBS therapy for tremor suppression and speech side-effect to gain further insight into these mechanisms and to establish guidelines for future research.
