Impact of lateral occlusion schemes: A systematic review

Abstract

Statement of problem Although several lateral occlusion philosophies have been proposed in the literature, there is a lack of compelling evidence supporting any scheme. Purpose The purpose of this systematic review was to investigate the clinical implications of different lateral occlusion schemes. Material and methods A literature search was completed through PubMed (MEDLINE), Google Scholar, and Cochrane Library, up to January 2014. The literature search aimed to retrieve 2 study categories: group 1: comparative studies; group 2: clinical outcome studies.
